A Devotional – SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES (85)
SCRIPTURE REFERENCES: John 20:30-31 – The Eternal Plan of God – Jesus
And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES: Jesus, the Christ of God/Messiah
The beginning ministry of Jesus was at the River Jordan, there are over 60 events recorded, covering 2-3 years. I will seek to cover several of these so let’s pray that the LORD would grant this but realize that we will be in this for the long hall, I am okay with this and I hope you are as well.
(1) Satan seeks to destroy the mission and life of our LORD, each temptation. Each time seeking four ways to overcome Him with human reasoning. “You’re hungry, if you are the Son of God” (sarcasm) Satan knows Jesus better than you or I. Satan controls the world in darkness, the True Light of this world is Jesus. Jesus replies: “You shall worship the LORD God and Him you shall serve” All religion is false worship. The final temptation was to kill Jesus outright, praise God! That Satan’s final attempt at the Crucifixion. Jesus rose from the dead. Luke 24:1-12.
(2) Jesus calls five men to follow Him = John 1: 35-51. John, verse 37, one of these two is John. Andrew, Peter’s brother, verse 40. Simon Peter, verse 42, Philip, verse 43 and Nathaniel, verse 44. This was not a random selection, these were chosen men, godly men.
(3) Healing of the Nobleman’s son in Cana = John 4:46-54. The one thing that strikes me in this passage is that we would be like the nobleman. Frantic over the loss of a child. Notice the LORD’s calm manner and even the opportunity He has to teach those around Him. Verse 48 – Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.” ALWAYS, when we pray, God answers, our problem is that we do not always believe.
Tomorrow I will backtrack to Nicodemus and the woman at the well, also the devotional may be a little late as I will be having an early morning meeting and breakfast.
