The Devotional - Praise and Worship - The Word of God
The
Devotional
Psalm 150:1-6 – Praise the LORD, Praise the LORD in His sanctuary; Praise the LORD
in His mighty firmament (His expanse). Praise Him for His mighty acts, Praise Him
according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with the “sound” of the
trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and
dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud
cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise
the LORD. PRAISE THE LORD!
COMMENT:
How often do you read this Psalm? If you are like me, hardly ever. It is not
because the Psalm is not as worthy as the others and it is not because we are
not able to find meditation and spiritual insight in the Psalm. Yet, the Psalm
takes the back seat in our daily prayer and meditation because many, in days
past have used the Psalm to apply false religious worship by separating the Psalm
from a personal and daily relationship with our Creator God.
Many have used the Psalm to accommodate musical
instruments as to be the only form of worship to glorify God in their daily or
weekly services. I am not against musical instruments, but I am against the
improper use of these as found in most churches throughout our country. The
music, dancing and etc. of our Sunday morning worship services are not, I say!
NOT honoring to God our Creator.
Verse 1 of this Psalm is all the proof that we
need to see what I am seeking to say. The sanctuary as an example is not the small
rooms in churches across this land on Sunday Mornings that focus on performance
and repetitive noises that exalt the performers. The Psalm is to direct our
attention to the Awesome Character of God. God’s Character is revealed in the “expanse
of heaven” which is His Sanctuary, in this sanctuary we Praise the LORD.
What goes on in the sanctuaries of churches in
our country today does not sanctify (make holy) the people, and it is not the
Praise that God alone seeks; it is Jesus/Messiah (The Creator) who is the SAME,
yesterday, today and forever, Hebrews 13:7-18 and 9:6-28, Christ/Messiah and
His sacrifice, that is the message to be preached and praised to the glory of
God.
